I've never had any fruits on E. micromeris ssp. pachyrhiza, but I certaily agree with leaving the fruits on the plants to dry.

I've grown this species from seed and it's flowered for the first this week, BUT the flower is closed when I get home from work, so I do not know what the flower is like yet.

There is always next year (and I will have retired by then anyway).
