Similar Societies To BCSS

Hello all, Far be it to step on anyone’s toes but I was just wondering what similar societies are out there for similar sorts of plants. I’m aware if the Haworthia society which I’ll join when funds allow, But with my serious admiration for the quality of the information and what not supplied as BCS...

IKEA / Hydroponics / Krydda / BitterGurka

Dear Peter. I’ve sent quite a few hours compiling this email / post and getting others input trying to come up with the reasoning behind why the hydroponics sections of the IKEA gardening sites were discontinued and still can’t understand what the legitimate reason was. After the big fanfare that sa...

‘Keiki’ Paste / Rooting Hormone

Hello, I might have raised these things before but thought I’d ask again after buying a rather large (apparently 18 year old) Crassula Ovata recently. Pictures on the internet are obviously my ‘can’t judge size kryptonits’ and it’s rather bigger than I thought. I had plan to trim it up to hopefully ...

Re: Updated seed lists

Damn, I was hoping fridges weren’t going to be mentioned as I’ve enough half empty condiments bottles and jars in there already and little room But half way through this reply I’ve just remembered I’ve a little ‘beer’ fridge that’s not currently set up. That’ll be ideal, I suppose it makes most sens...

Re: Updated seed lists

Didn’t seem worth starting a new thread for this but how do people store their unused seed. Have seemingly half a dozen seed tins with now cactus, succulent and older veg & herb seeds that I think really need amalgamating into one so I know what I’ve actually got and get multiples into date orde...

Re: Repot or not?

Chinosol = What a brilliant name. Could almost be an 80’s soft rock group. The fan is definitely a plan. I’ve been meaning to that before and have forgotten. I’ve got a couple of little USB ones that will do the job And the fungicide will be the catalyst to go visit the garden centre near me they I ...

Re: Micro-photography

The other day I wanted confirmation of a moss identification, and bodge-took a photo by hand-holding my phone where my eye would normally go at the eyepiece of my microscope. It was fiddly, as you have to get the lens in just the right place and hold it steady, but the result was good enough for th...
