Re: Raised planting beds in a greenhouse

We moved from clay to chalk and I missed camellia, magnolia and azalea so we filled stone built walls with ericaceous compost. I top them up twice yearly and onl...

Re: Gardeners' World grit

Hi Ivan,
I took Gardeners World as TV programme! Did not look where you live! Hope you find something suitable. There is quite a lot of aquarium grit which I have found agreeable, even if it needs washing first!

Re: Need advice on greenhouse setup

Hi,
I would have thought the decking would be lethal for walking on when wet? Slippery. Would you put something down on decking to avoid breaking your neck? Not sure what. I'm sure there will be more difficulties. Could you not remove decking and concrete the base?

I use this. It looks great and most succulents grow readily in it. Price reduction now too....

Re: Replacement aluminium slats for staging?

Hi, We bought this staging last year and it's been excellent. https://www.primrose.co.uk/lacewing-traditional-tier-greenhouse-staging-silver-p-63395.html?cPath=696_2271_3605_13112 It comes as self assembly so you could use slats for your old one. It's very robust and has not rusted. We thought it go...

Re: Chinese dish

Hi Ralph,
I think you might have had Mesembryanthemum crystallinum, commonly 'ice greens' in English or 'bingcai' in Cantonese. Pretty much served from freezer and allowed to defrost before eating. Speciality over there.
Just an idea. Hope you have great Christmas and good growing for 2018.
