Thanks a lot. You are so right. Those photos were taken in Malaga, where the weather is perfect for growing those giant columnar cactus.

Ferocactus glaucescens, I would think. Although I would not expect it to cluster as much... Thank you. Yes, my first thought was definitely Ferocactus. I am TIRED of cutting back - as though as fast as I cut it grows. And if I allow it, it gets too thick into the walkway and it is a HAZARD - those spines are so wicked.
