Re: Hooray and thanks!

Not so hooray as yet for me, I am afraid. It has been a month and a day since sending the order and 12 days since the cheque cleared, but still no sign of seeds. I note that on the order form we are being asked not to make inquiries until 28 days passes after sending the order. Is there any other w...

Re: Lobivias described since Lobivia85

What makes a Lobivia a Lobivia or a Rebutia a Rebutia? Floral characteristics, fruit, seed or what? Looks like John Donald tried to answer this question in the BCSS Journal in 1977. Unfortunately only the first page of the article is available here without subscribing . https://www.jstor.org/stable...

Re: Time for a name change?

I see the problem with naming is that we're trying to unify in one or a very few words a single genus of exclusively succulent plants (Cacti) with plants of many genera, very few of which are completely succulent. The challenge is to find a word that describes what we focus on without giving undue ...

Re: Hooray and thanks!

Anybody else received seeds lately? It makes me wonder just what this new fairer system that Topsy mentioned actually is, that wasn't first come first served. Ian T argued the system hasn't changed. All I would appreciate is something in the way of understanding. Still waiting, but my heart rate an...

Re: Greenhouse heater recommendation

I agree with Ciderman, this type of 'soft' moulded plug is usually the problem, particularly when a large current is being used over a long period. When your heater is operating at 2.8kW, then it is drawing >11A of current, so is not surprising the plug gets warm and even melts after continued use. ...

Re: Hooray and thanks!

Since you are supposed to use the order form you received with your journal, I think this implies you should only send in one order and, as stated on the form, up to 2 packets per item. PS Unlike some of you, I did not send my form back on the day I received it, a job to do over Christmas for me ......

Stuart.
I might be wrong but i was under the impression that there would be no MSG list this time around as Terry & Jen had given up counting seeds. Is that still the case ?
Indeed. But note Jayne that Stuart's post you read above was posted in December 2009.
