Where do you get pumice?
You can get it online- Der-Naturstein-Garten via Amazon (this is the best mix of sizes I think), also Specialist Aggregates do gravel, which is a little on the big side, but they also do pumice sand.
Not worth buying unless in bulk though.

pure pumice?

Calling growers who use pure pumice, no organic matter. I'm trying an experiment this year, following a conversation with Ingo Breuer, of potting plants into pure pumice. Nothing else, no organic matter. Do any of you already do this? If so, do you water more frequently than with plants which have s...

Re: Cactus seed payment

There are ways to automate paypal payments using e.g. Actinic or other webshop software, and integration of this with membership databases, removing most of the legwork. Getting a system like that is expensive but is the way forward. Less human error in matching up, not more! Most people don't use ...

Re: Seed preparation

I squash the fruits and smear thinly on a piece of kitchen roll to dry. Once dry the seeds are much easier to handle.

Re: Is this root mealy?

The hot water method is very interesting. I'd be glad to hear if anyone here has tried it and whether or not it was successful (getting rid of bugs and not damaging plants).

Re: Remove peat ft

Hi all I would like advice on removing peat/compost from cactus football prior to repotting. I would wait until the spring Bob- the main reason being that the peat requires to be soaked to get it out of the roots, so best done on warm days when the plant can dry off easily. After soaking I then jus...

Re: Pesticide for killing thrips

They are capable of doing serious damage to cacti. I have had some problems with this. A summary of how serious the problem is in the UK is here:
