Re: Todays photo
Hi all, I'm not sure what the problem is here. Here is a picture I've posted this morning, which is 1.7Mb in size, and it came through ok. I will investigate ;) Haworthias-under-bench.jpg Allan, can you please try emailing me the picture you wanted to post, and I'll see if I can identify what the pr...

And some more variation ;)
Some more, rather more variaion than I would have expected. This time with Aylostera oculata (euanthema) LF1153, another Ladislav Fischer number originally found at Volcán, Jujuy, Argentina. Seed was sown in 2020 from a single pack and plants are now flowering well. A-oculata-LF1153.jpg A_oculata_LF...

Aylostera einsteinii variation
I sowed a lot of seed supplied by Ladislav Fischer in 2020, and these are now a reasonable size and flowering well this spring. Among them were several different collection numbers of Aylostera einsteinii . This species is rather different from the other Aylosteras with a distinctive look about it, ...

Re: National Collection Open Day 2024
Thanks all who came along to the Open Day yesterday. The sun shone all day!
41 people in all. I was so busy talking I forgot to have lunch, or take pictures. Here are a few Rebutias and Aylosteras from today.

Re: Forum access problems
Hi all, Although I've stepped back from the coal face I am still keeping one eye on things until we get a better system in place which will hopefully be soon. Yesterday, it wasn't the Forum causing issues. The server itself had issues beyond our control, which I beileve are now fixed. It was affecti...

Re: Aberdeen Duthie Park Winter Gardens
I guess as staff change, people with different interests come on board. One would think that maintaining the garden's collection is more a matter of professionalism and skills, and not necessarily personal interests of staff or management... It still does look better than many collections around, a...

Aberdeen Duthie Park Winter Gardens
Yesterday I visited what is now called the David Welch Winter Gardens, formerly the Duthie Park Winter Gardens, in Aberdeen. It is a few years since I last visited, and although I enjoyed the visit it is a bit depleted from what it used to be. Several large mature specimens of cacti that had been th...
