Re: Gran Canaria
You can find Ceropegia fusca growing in the Fataga Valley in the south of the island. I posted an article a while ago in the Travelogues foum here: http://www.bcss.org.uk/foruma/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=139116&hilit=ceropegia+fusca As others have said, both Cactualdea and Palmitos Park in the so...

Re: Lophophora fruits
I agree with Dennis and Phil. I never harvest Lophophora seed from the moist fleshy fruits, only from the older dried up ones, and I always get great germination from them that way.

Re: insurance
During the great storm we had a few years back, every panel of polycarbonate blew out of my greenhouse. The place looked like a bomb had hit it. The insurance company (CIS) paid out to reglaze the greenhouse without any hassle. I didn't try to claim for any of the plants though; they might be pricel...

Re: Hunting Ceropegia fusca on Gran Canaria
Hi Trevor I think they'll appreciate all the warmth you can give them and they can tolerate being dry for a remarkable length of time. You can perhaps just about see from the first photograph how shrivelled many of the stems are. Gran Canaria is often subjected to a sirocco (called locally " la...

Dot,
No, I didn't get my S. schinzii plants from John; mine are seed raised by myself from a 2003 IAS seed list.

Re: Introduction - Carl Howard
Thanks for the words of welcome everyone! Dot - You can find Ceropegia fusca about 5km into the Barranco de Fataga on the road to Fataga, travelling north out of Playa del Ingles/Maspalomas. It grows mainly on rock strewn scree slopes about half way into the valley, mostly on the left side of the ro...

Re: Stapelia schinzii var. angolensis
Wiebe Do you happen to know the collection number of the S. schinzii seed you sowed from the IAS in 2003? Is it specifically the angolensis variety that you're looking for or the schinzii variety, as I have several S. schinzii v. schinzii plants seed raised from that source with the collection numbe...
