Aren't our plants amazing (Mammillaria)

Nothing to drink since late September last year yet it still has enough energy to start flowering.

Re: came home to bit of a nightmare

It is the worst sinking feeling ever to find plants out of pots on the floor. I always manage to drop/knock over or other wise disturb something when moving things about.

I once dropped THREE quarter trays of different Frailea seedlings - all in a heap on the floor under the window sill.

Re: Young Frailea advice

I have a funny feeling I don't have the plant any more. It was bought in 2012, not sown in 2012.

The plant only measured about 2cm across. The pot is actually a 5cm pot (not 6cm as mentioned before) and the white labels are 1cm across.

Re: Windowsill Gardening / Net curtains Solved

My bedroom windowsill (where I grow my seedlings) is upstairs at the front of the house and has a small blind for privacy at the bottom of the window frame. The roller blind comes down from the top near the glass and the privacy blind is fixed on a pole on the inside edge of the frame and is about 1...

These seedlings were what I would call Fluorescent pink. See the ones on the right.

Re: Young Frailea advice

I don't think Frailea castanea grows very big. Looks like grahliana may clump with age, but the heads still look tiny.

This is my castanea flowering a few years ago - very small in a 6cm pot.

Re: Outside Opuntias (which will be safe/grow better)

Thanks for the info. (tu)

I'll probably get a planter of some sort to try them in.

Re: How are your seeds going?

It's a few months since sowing so on a rainy Monday I decided to take an audit of this winter's seed plantings. I planted from three sources and all are a general mix of cacti. My method may not be perfect, but all sources were treated exactly the same and placed in the same propagator. BCSS seed p...
