Re: Aeonium cuttings help

Thought I'd update on my cuttings and ask for some advice. So the tops are doing well and look healthy The middle stem cuttings of the Velour are still doing nothing, but the Schwartkop are doing really well now. The bottom Schwartkop is also doing well and amazingly the bottom Velour has just start...

The plants are all loving the sun!

Finally we've had some sun here and my plants are changing into some stunning colours. Thought I'd share them for others to enjoy too. Sorry just noticed a couple are a bit blurry. :-( https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180523/28e4fec83f1644cd76c9e70ccf10b83c.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...

Re: Aeonium cuttings help

Update for my Aeonium cuttings. Some successes so far. So my two tops of each plant seem happy enough, but I don't think they've grown any roots yet. Not sure how long this takes? The schwartkopf middle stems are sprouting little tiny leaves. However the velour seems to have shriveled and are doing ...

Re: RE: Re: When to put Aeoniums back outside?

Pleased to say they survived a thunderstorm unscathed. And I hadn't even got round to staking them. They're kept very dry over winter, and lose a lot of roots so they can be unstable for a while at this time of year. Mike Yes mine seem ok too.im just watching the night temperatures. They are creepi...

Re: RE: Re: Aeonium with a pinched stem

Aeoniums sometimes, for no reason I can work out, go narrow and dry up. The upper stem usually starts growing roots, if that happens cut the stem below the roots, it will probably be dry then pot up. If the plant seems happy don't bother, although you could cut it off and re-root it if it starts to...

Re: RE: Re: When to put Aeoniums back outside?

I would not worry too much about leaving your Aeoniums outside at night. If it is not going down below to 1or2C, they will be fine. the worst problem is hailstones, that ruins them. I got back from holiday last Thursday evening, the hottest day of the year, to find that some of mine had scorched. T...

Aeonium with a pinched stem

Sorry another aeonium question. I've had this plant a year and it was really small when I got it. It's A. Firecracker. I've just repotted it, but I'm a bit worried about the stem. It is pinched very near the bottom. None of my others have done this, and I'm worried it's going to snap as the plant ge...

Re: RE: Re: When to put Aeoniums back outside?

I've always gone by the old tomato growers saying, if there's no frost in the first week of June then you can put your plants out. I think that only applies if you're growing in the open air. It's a very warm 22 degrees outside today, so I've brought them outside for their first bit of sun this yea...

Re: RE: Re: When to put Aeoniums back outside?

Most, possibly all, Aeoniums will die or be damaged by frost, so the simple answer is after the last frost. Begs the question, how do you know which one is the last one? The best answer is historical for where in the country you live. In Sheffield, I wait till the end of May/early June, after check...
