Re: Crassula umbella tips please

Thanks Terry. I have taken the plunge and ordered seeds from a seller who says they were harvested this April. I will post any results worth mentioning. I don't understand though why this plant is so hard to come by and has so little information on the internet when from what I gather is fairly comm...

Re: Crassula umbella tips please

Aiko as Chris says there are a couple of people on eBay selling seeds. Although I don't know how fresh they need to be to be viable. It's a bit of a gamble I guess as the time it takes to realise they're not it's too late to complain. Terry any information is of use. As autumn is past would you say ...

Crassula umbella tips please

Hi all. I've been meaning to grow Crassula umbella for a while but can find next to nothing on the internet in regards to germinating and growing on. I'd be grateful for any advice please before I take the plunge and buy what would appear to be fairly expensive seed. I have a basic propagator I can ...

Grafting onto Cleistocactus strausii

Hi All.

As I have an abundance of C. strausii I thought perhaps I could put it to good use.
A quick search on the internet didn't offer much information but is there any reason not to use it for grafting stock?

Thanks.

Re: Some Corys

Fabulous flowers and plants. Isn't it the most wonderful time of the year.
For a minute I thought I was on the wrong forum and see pictures of Corydoras (I'm also into fish) but it's all Greek to me.

Re: E .obesa

Hi Eric. How big/old is the plant?
A picture perhaps may help others with more experience than me diagnose.

Regards. Nick.

Re: Mealy bug friendly?

I read an article a little while ago that said ladybird larvae actively seek out and eat mealy bugs.
You'd have breed a new batch each year though as I don't think they survive the Winter. And of course you wouldn't be able to use pesticides.

Re: Useful Tips & Tricks

I use large sponges, such as the ones used for washing cars, to rest plants on while removing the old soil. And then pick the plant up between two like a sandwich while repotting.

Re: Taproot exposed

Thanks For the id David. It's good to be able to put a name to the plant Suzanne I'd love to see this one flower. I remember trying to explain to mates in the pub last year that I had to leave early because I knew my Cereus was going to flower that night. Out of curiosity how do you replenish the so...

Re: Taproot exposed

Thanks Suzanne hope these are clearer image.jpg And one of the top with its wonderful black spines image.jpg Ian, I have removed the offensive top twice before but I'm afraid the persistent blighter just grows back. It would seem and your welcome to sing along 'you can't have one without the other' ...
