Re: BCSS Seed List December 2021

Any idea when the Swedes will get their magazine? We are now only getting alternate day deliveries of post ie M W F T T in any fortnight. The list becomes a total lottery at this point. I went for the pot luck selection last time I bothered and I still possess a cheque book (sonewhere).

Cat litter. Old topic, new twist?

When Dr Alcock mentioned cat litter many years ago, he suggested adding iron and calcium sulphate to help with the acidity. Does any one still do this? In Sweden, I am able to get a moler cat litter, but I haven’t seen straight fertilisers. Also, can one use other clay cat litters?

Thanks

Re: Sowing seeds in a bag

Supplemental question

When do you take them out of the bags? I am seed raising for the first time and have germination after ten days.

Thanks

Re: BCSS Members please read this.

On the subject of profiles, and so forth, is there any intention to increase the size of the avatar photograph, at least in terms of pixel dimensions? The last time I managed to create a picture it took me a lot of messing about, as a non technical person, and I have had similar problems uploading p...

Re: Advice sought on heated sand beds

Thank you alll for the information.

Long term, I shall not be here that long for things to rot, although I do intend to line with pond liner. It will be against a wall, so that should help.

Currently keeping house at 23degC all winter for nearly nonagenarian so used to huge electric bills!

Advice sought on heated sand beds

Can anyone give me general advice on sinking pots in sand, possibly with heating coils? I am thinking about setting up one with a large cold frame over it within a sheltered courtyard on either a south or west facing wall. The cold frame would be 120 cm by 60 cm and they also sell planking to make a...

Eric was and always will be my favourite even though he now lives with my sister. She managed to flower him as well, despite not really having much experience with cacti Ferocactus stainesii

Re: CactusWorld

Still waiting for mine in Sweden, but I hope it’s on its way. I was one of the people who had their copy sent to the old address last time. Is it worth buying seed to raise in Sweden, or do you think I’d be better off sticking to plants? I haven’t propagator or greenhouse now, and I’m unlikely to bu...
