Since my earlier post, my daughter has tried diatomaceous earth around some mealy bug infested plants ... they definitely don't like it and die!
Is that just scattered around the neck of the plant?
Anywhere you see them walk.

Taxonomy is a man-made thing. Evolution is about the survival of the fittest not about creating new species all the time. Take any cactus genus and look at the difference between species. Those differences are often very subtle. Then look at dogs. The differences between a German Shepard and a Chihu...

It is either poorly or one without chlorophyll. In the latter case you need to graft it if you want it to survive.

I have had this a couple of times. It did not harm my seeds nor seedlings. Moulds that live on dead matter often do no harm to living organisms.

Melocactus smithii. It is not rare but no one seems to have it. Been fortunate to have had some seeds sent to me from Guyana.
