My Cintia was first to flower this year, about a month ago, but looks shrivelled and pale. Do you grow in sun or shade Ralph?

That's the kind of course I've been considering going on myself.

Perhaps the BCSS can organise one on behalf of its members.

Then finally perhaps we'll be able to rid ourselves of these tiresome pests once and for all!

10ml per 8 litres of water

It's not vague, you just have to be able to understand the German instructions :smile:

I assume in Portugal you're allowed to use this stuff, as you can in much of Europe?

I do, yes, twice a year; once early in the season (ie first thing) and again in a few months time.

It's the best thing I know to get rid of root mealies.

I don't think it will do any harm to your plants to add insecticide at this early watering stage. I've done it myself for the past few years and have had no problems with toxicity, and I've yet to hear anybody else report problems either. Quite a few Mammillaria, and the usual suspects such as Pelecyphora and some Turbinicarpus

It's sunny today, same is forecast for tomorrow - time to start watering I think!

Can you explain to me what actually happens to a succulent that is growing really fast and then dies really fast? If grown fast with lots of N, the cactus will spend it's time growing by producing lots of new cells. They will look lush and green, but the new cells will be large and have thin, weak ...
