Re: Cactus flower duration

Individual flowers

I have some plants that continuously flower for several weeks if not months, but the individual flowers themselves last for just a matter of a few days

Cactus flower duration

I was wondering which cactus flowers last the longest.

Pretty much all of mine wilt within 24-48 hours no matter what the species, though small-flowered Mammillaria can last a week or more.

It's a shame when you have a plant for 365 days a year yet it's only in flower for 2 of them!

Re: Biodegradeable plastic from cactus juice?

Good stuff

As we require more and more environment-friendly solutions to our problems, I can see cacti being used more and more in developments of this kind

it's the chemical reactions between the MiracleGro and the vinegar I wouldn't like to predict.
There won't be any chemical reactions between MiracleGro and vinegar and if it's used to make the pH around 6.0 as intended it will be completely harmless.

I use 2 solar panels to power my fans in my greenhouse and they work really well. Were easy to set up too
Seconded, solar powered fans make so much sense

Re: Antifungal fungi

No I've not used Relancer so I can't comment on its use, sorry! From the sales blurb it does seem like the kind of thing you're after

I have some Prestop but I don't use it for cacti. It's kept as fungal spores so they should last for some time if stored correctly.

Now, Terry, Mike and Peter, if any of you could find something that kills algae but saves the seedlings...???
