Hi Tina,
The first names that come to my mind when I look at this picture are M. monancistracantha, M. nana or M. trichacantha.
It is not easy to identify the plant in its current state, but this is my opinion.
Peter.

Re: Cacti identification thread
Hi Mat,
I think 'your Echinocactus grusonii' is in fact a young Ferocactus schwarzii !!
Don't know about the Melocactus (too small), but certainly not ferreophilus. That one is very rare and not seen in the commercial circuit.
Peter.

Hi Mat,
To me your Mammillaria seems to be Mammillaria mammillaris (old name M. simplex).
When it flowers, it should have small creamy flowers. The fruits are often more attractive then the flowers.

Hi Andrew,
Do you mean the Vol 92, Winter 2020 No.4 edition?

Re: Eriosyce sp.
Hoi Christer,
I would say its Pyrrhocactus pilispinus (south of Barquito). These are plants with week short hairy spines and white flowers. Today they all 'belong' to Eriosyce calderana.
What do you think it is?
Peter.

Hoi Jennifer, Pic. 9 Coryphantha, of the species name I'm not sure. Pic. 8 Gymnocalycium Pic. 7 Mammillaria (could be neapensis, knippeliana, or ..., to small to be sure) Pic. 6 Echinocereus, possibly viridiflorus. Pic. 4 & 5 Mammillaria bocasana var. roseiflora (left) and Mammillaria kunzeana (...

Re: Help with identification please.
Hi Russell,
Picture 5-6 is indeed Turbinicarpus nikolae.
Picture 7-8-9 is NOT Arrojadoa marylanae.
To me it looks like Siccobaccatus estevesii, also known as Micranthocereus estevesii.

JonNo, Your Mammillaria is probably a form of Mammillaria albilanata subsp. albilanata (synonyms are: M. fuauxiana, M. igualensis, M. igualensis var. palmillensis) or Mammillaria albilanata subsp. oaxacana (synonyms are: M. ignota, M. lanigera, M. lanigera var. juxtlahuacensis, M. monticola, M. nour...

Re: Help finding books
Hoi Stuart, I think the Lophophora book is still available at www.cact.cz, the website from Pavel Pavlicek (Chrudim-CZ). Look under shop/literature/ 35-ROD Lophophora - beautiful book from Czech growers Rudy Grym. Price 590,- Czk (= 23,00 €). Not found info about the other two Lophophora specials. P...
