Young Stenocactus are hard to ID, but if you want a name I would say one of the many forms of S. crispatus or maybe S. multicostatus.

Stenocactus ID please

I acquired this cactus at a branch meeting amongst others but without labels. I think it is a Stenocactus ... could anyone confirm and perhaps add a species name please?

Talking of heatwave or otherwise, after that very hot spell I decided to repot two plants which live outside, and put them in nice glazed pots and move them from down the garden outside the greenhouse door, to near the front door! Certainly not a silly question because in many plant genera there is a barrier to siblings being able to pollinate each other; it is mechanism to protect genetic diversity and hence survival in the long term.
