Quote the female parent first.

If it is an absent father then just say ex-mother.

Harvest, storage and sowing will vary enormously with species and family.

Is it .... female parent name X male parent name Or male parent name X female parent name For those seeds of indeterminate male parentage because insects naturally intervened .... is it .... X plant n...

Re: Huntington and imports

It wasn't just export to the UK which seemed horrendously complex and expensive. Even just down the road to other California counties required treatment, documents and cash. There's a few nurseries in the UK who occasionally advertise Schick .... and enthusiasts who grow and have for sale or swap. I...

Re: Opuntia seeds - update.

(tu) Ah yes, "Darwin rules, selectively" ! Jest ye carefully .... there's much truth in that. Some seedlings do actively kill off their siblings ... saguarro for one ... so that some growers thin their plants or transplant them on early to maximise the germination. Re: Hello From Manchester.

Welcome John.
I remember Newton St Post Office from my days as a student in Manchester in the late 60s!
I live in Leeds but have been to the Manchester branch a couple of times recently. They are a knowledgeable and friendly welcoming group.

Re: Opuntia seeds - update.

Leave them alone for now, maybe a few months, is my advice. As always, best left alone until they are really crowded. Even then, the strongest will make it.... Re: Taxonomy of cacti

As a newbie I have followed the thread with interest. I was beginning to become very puzzled and confused as I was trying to find specific plants on the Web, in the cactus nursery, and in reference books. So now I do my research with a little more sceptical care because I have looked to purchase cer...
