Re: Winter, young plants from one greenhouse to another

thank you for the insight to the cold issues of that Pachypodium , I have always liked them and seem to be drawn towards hard to grow plants. I will keep it at work for the time being, My Lithop seedlings are still in community pots which has made watering difficult because they are growing at diffe...

Winter, young plants from one greenhouse to another

I have the luxury of starting my seeds in a beautiful greenhouse and I am wondering if my seedlings are going to go dormant, because I want to get them into a regular cycle of growth and rest and into my unheated new greenhouse. One particular plant, Pachypodium horombense was sown in February last ...

Re: Please can I see photos of your DIY staging?

Iam all for durability as well. My "benches" are made from 1.5" square galvanized tubing, secured to the walls of the same material. No legs needed! I had to stand on them to put up my wife's Christmas lights.

Tops are galvanized expanded metal, covering is 2x acrylic.

I've got a spare bulb of Lachenalia pygmaea which had crept into my pot of Polyxena ensifolia, if anyone wants to do a swap...

I don't think I have anything to swap, but I am a big fan of Lachenalia, but I am also a long ways away.

Re: Wisley Garden today

While on sabbatical at Writtle College years ago my favorite house was the alpine house. Loved the way they sank the pots into the sandy grit. Actually I cant think of anywhere at Wisley that was not my favorite, we made it there almost once a month from September to June to see the garden seasonall...

Re: Tesco,s finest

good day to everyone, I have been producing containerized plants for 35 years and have never used kitty litter, and I guess I am curious why everyone loves it so much. Our cat Piper rarely uses her box but when she does all the moisture is held onto very much like diaper hydrogel. the material holds...

Re: Transplanting Lithops seedlings

I have read that they need more water as seedlings, but these don't seem to be seedlings any longer. Watering i...

Re: sunburnt seedlings

thanks, I'll keep my fingers crosses,

Iann, won't be the first time the labels are wrong, the seeds came from a dealer in Germany. I had some seeds from the CSSA labeled Mammallaria and they came up as split rocks

sunburnt seedlings

Hello, first post to this forum, and as you might expect, I need help. I have a couple of pots of seedlings that turned dark brown under too much light from fluorescent lights. From what I have read its not a good thing, and they really have stalled out. They are now in my greenhouse at work in a sh...
