The BCSS is certainly value for money. The Alpine Garden Society offers very similar membership benefits but their subscription is about twice ours! So many times I have heard that we put gravel as a top layer of the pot to improve drainage around the neck of the plant.........Nonesense! its more likely to keep moisture around the neck than avoid it. Gravel on the surface is better if plants are shallow rooted and the climate dries the soil too...

In my opinion, as they are endangered the punishment should be more than a fine and a year or two in jail. The plants are just as living as us. Exactly.
