Re: Seedling help

Thank you AnTTun, some consolation that it happens elsewhere. Either too hot or too bright or both is my best conclusion. I don’t think it is the sealed container scenario per se as I have used thAt method successfully in the past.

Re: Seedling help

Thanks for the comment. On Thursday or Friday there is a chance there was direct sun for the first time, just peeking through but not for long. The seedling were put in a nice bright light in the conservatory, it’s possible the sun peeked through and my suspicion was as suggested, baked seedling but...

Seedling help

This sowing made 17th February, assortment of BCSS list. They have been planted in sealed plastic pots, on warm base half the day in a propagator. There is a second pot I dare not post! They seemed fine until I opened up today for a peep. Those white seedlings were lovely green a couple of days ago....

I am sure that was the correct botanical name at the time. We should have known better,Keith. I always thought it w...

Re: flowering Kalanchoes

Those are really lovely Philippe, I didn’t even appreciate they flowered in winter. I am afraid mine get ignored in winter so I assume that I should be watering them now and providing some warmth.

Re: CactusWorld out today

Another excellent publication. The cultivation inserts is a great idea. I hope that there will be some more “In my greenhouse” soon, this quarter was yet another great report, with the Japan twist which had me checking back I had not misread the article. Thanks for the hint, Ralph, I missed the ad f...

Re: Which compost?

I have a micro collection [ well small plants but a lot of them!] and greenhouse & always mix my own compost. Check out other posts but I mix 1/3 JOhn Innes 3 or 2, 1/3 grit & 1/3 Tesco cat litter or latest favoured version of molar clay. Well worth the trouble. Don’t use sand though, but lots of gr...

Here is a pink variety, not a great photograph and rather scruffy version.

Note the imposter as well!!!

Re: Information

Hi Julie. These are pleasing little plants and I think you can re-pot pretty well any time, perhaps wait a few weeks. Look out for the pink coloured version, very pretty. They will root up easily from a leaf left on top of soil or even fallen on the bench. I have some growing outside but covered for...
