Oh dear that's all rather gloomy - but thank you everyone for the comments. I'm a bit baffled because the plant has never been globe shaped, it has always been tall, always been in full sun, including spells outside, so never short of light and has been given very little water. I repotted it recentl...

cultivation advice

I have a single stem cactus that has grown to 24cm, possibly an Echinocactus but with a strong growth shape the spines are on spirals round the stem. It's quite a fat plant but narrower at the top where the new growth is so I'm wondering whether it needs more water to help it swell to the same size ...

I would like to ask questions about how to care for one of my cactuses but can't see how to add a photograph - I did add 3 attachments but they were huge and in the wrong orientation - could soneone tell me how to do it please. I used the insert inage icon but couldn't see how to change the size etc...

Thanks for the welcome, I live in Dumfries and Galloway and have been here 11 years now.
I've been trying to identify my plants from books but that seems pretty tricky.
So I'm looking forward to putting names to the faces on my window ledges.
