Re: Removal of spiders from the greenhouse

Almost certainly a spider and unless you can get rid of the individual it will continue to renew its webbing. I would usggest removing all pots from the corner that it occupies while watching out for movement from the spider as you do so. A second pair of eyes looking in from outside or a different ...

Re: Any concerns with these species in unheated greenhouse?

Thank you. Do the clumnar cacti not do so well then? They are generally less able to cope with very low temperatures. Thank you. Do you agree that the stenocereus would need to be taken in then? Want to minimise the number taken indoors but will take in if needed. I would recommend you take it in.

Re: Pollination

A paintbrush dabbed about between the flowers of two plants should be sufficient. This is the method I normally use. According to my list M schiedeana should be self fertile, but as others have said, you'll have to wait and see.

I never got fruit on mine - just as well perhaps. I agree the flowers are among the best of all the mamms.

Re: Parodia germination tips

I have found Parodia (Notocactus) leninghausii to be very easy from seed. Is your rooting media sufficiently damp? Cactus seedlings in the early stages need a very moist growing medium.

Re: Lots of 3 lobed Lithops lesliei

I've had a very occasional 3 lobed lithops seedling but it is a very rare event for me. Could be something in the genes of one of the parents of your crop. They will probably revert to normal when leaves are replaced.
