Rod, I'm not sure if I have bigger flowers or smaller spines. My plant is in a 10.5cm pot and the flower is as wide as the pot, completely overwhelms the spines. My rinconensis bloomed today. The spines prevent the flowers from opening fully.

It looks like a rinconensis. Mine is just about to bloom This was my hexaedrophorus on Saturday; I love the silky sheen on the petals.

No problem Suzanne. This is not an exact science. It does seem odd, if these are offsets, that they should all be chlorophyll deficient when the parent plant clearly isn't. Unless they are not offsets, as Dave has suggested. :???:

I would have no hesitation in removing the offsets. Their pale colour could be due to lack of nutrients from the parent plant which is possibly struggling a bit. You can leave the offsets on or take them off but I would either repot into fresh compost or put the plant on a modest fertiliser regime. ...

If I hadn't seen the flower I'd have ID'd the one on the left as Mammillaria bocasana - or hahniana, but my observation skills were never brilliant. :wink:
