Re: Echinopsis 'Bridge' hybrid
Thanks Steve for an interesting idea. I had not heard of Mike Bridges before but my personal circumstances suggest that this could possibly be the origin of the hybrid. Firstly, my BCCS branch adjoins Manchester branch - in fact if I lived just a very short distance further north I would have been i...

Re: Echinopsis 'Bridge' hybrid
Thanks for all your contributions. I guess that unless a Mr/Mrs Bridge suddenly appears on the Forum, this is going to remain a mystery. I certainly never got anywhere doing internet searching in the past. Anyway, the plant doesn't care about the label and its unknown parents, and as long as it keep...

Re: Echinopsis 'Bridge' hybrid
Here is a photo of the body of the plant. It has had a rather hard life (with a constriction about halfway up the body) and would not win a beauty contest, but it makes up for it with its distinctive flower colour, unlike any of my other Echinopsis plants. It is 13cm high and 8 cm broad. Bridge body...

Re: Echinopsis 'Bridge' hybrid
Here is a recent photo of its flowers. Quite a delicate yellow with a little pink at the edges.

Echinopsis 'Bridge' hybrid
There seem to be quite a few Echinopsis hybrid collectors on the forum so maybe someone might be able to throw some light on the name attached to an old Echinopsis of mine. I picked it up about 20 years ago (source no longer known) and it was labelled as a 'Bridge hybrid'. Can anyone throw any light...

Re: Discocactus from National to ID
Hi Tina,
I am not a Discocactus expert, having only one plant, but the heads of your clump do look the same as mine, which came with the label D. griseus. This is considered to be just a form of the variable D. heptacanthus, so maybe the latter name would fit yours?

Re: Society labels
Good news indeed. They have always been my preference for labelling, and my existing stock is almost exhausted.

Re: Book
Congratulations Paul. Great news. Looking forward to it very much - it will definitely fill a gap in the available literature. Just got to wait very patiently now!

Re: Do you think this will survive?
Surprised to see this today as it also happened very recently to my best plant of E. texensis! It started near the base and then spread all the way up one side of the plant. It was hard and not a soft rot. I decided it was never going to look good even if it stopped and also, if it was something inf...

Re: Roy Mottram
Such an influence in my early days as a cactophile and I got quite a few plants from him. So friendly and helpful on my one and only visit to his nursery. I got an unusual Oreocereus x Matucana hybrid from him which remains one of my favourite and most treasured plants.
RIP, Roy.
