Re: Bradleya anniversary book

For clarity, As Bradleya is 40 this year the Editor (George) and I discussed how this could be celebrated. It was agreed that a conservation special edition be created and I proposed to the BoT that as the subject is so important that we should send a copy to all BCSS members and also have some extr...

Resignation as the Chair of the British Cactus and Succulent Society

Over the last few weeks I have been subjected to unprecedented attacks on my personal integrity by a member of the board of trustees. I have never been given the opportunity to reply or challenge these accusations. Furthermore, my accuser has stated that she is backed by the Board of trustees but ha...

Re: Ceropegia dimorpha seed follicles

Wow that is impressive - well done. I have never known anyone to pollinate this plant in cultivation. I remember finding it in flower in Madagascar and how excited I was - Its a great plant to grow.

Re: Illegal Cacti and the BCSS

Re the Chairman's post in this thread he said specifically he was attempting to change or undermine the Mexican restriction on plant material export. He later said he was wanting to lobby Cites to "fight to make it as easy as possible to make LEGAL seed and plants available to the membership.&...

Re: Illegal Cacti and the BCSS

Its important that we as a Charity stay within the law irrespective of what our personal views are. In the last few years I understand ELK was raided and also a visit by DEFRA to an AGS event resulted in a plant being seized at one of their shows - this was returned because the owner had appropriate...

Re: Cactus event at RHS Bridgewater this August?

We are about to start promoting the event and you will see lots more soon. It will be Saturday and Sunday of the Bank Holiday weekend. The RHS garden hasn't opened yet but will do very soon and they also will be promoting the event for us. Jo Adderley and Manchester Branch are managing this event an...

Re: Looking after members interests.

Well done Ian. I wonder if a concerted effort by a bunch of societies, including the RHS, might carry more weight? I have been talking to other societies but the view is that lots of separate letters may be better than one with lots of signatures. I am working with the other societies as well. My i...

Looking after members interests.

I have been concerned about all the border controls being introduced that will affect the hobby so I have been initiating a campaign to raise awareness. So far the issues have been raised in Garden News and today in the Sunday times. This is just to let you know that I am fighting hard to look after...

Re: Don't forget the On-Line talk on tuesday

I believe it is possible to have a poll on Zoom. You could ask what the best day is for the audience at the next meeting. Of course, this would be biased towards those for whom the best time is Tuesday evening at 7:30. Well done on all you have done with this, Ian, it is very much appreciated. Acce...
