Re: Bulbine roots
They flowered and set seeds last season (and maybe one the year before, I don't recall). They're about 4 years old now.

Bulbine roots
My Bulbines woke up a few weeks ago so it's time to repot a few that are in need of more space. I was pleasantly surprised by the root system of these bruynsii. I grow this species in a mix of coarse sand and pumice. The narrow sections of the root eventually whither and the tuber becomes an indepen...

Re: Gymnocalyciums in flower
Gymno friedrichii LB2178, a great plant even without flowers.
I love the spines on Gymno bozsingianum.

Re: Stapeliad thread
First flower on one of my White-sloanea seedlings. Not the largest flower, and I couldn't really smell any odor. The plants is about 4 years old, and lives in a light box year round. I have seedling twice its size, but no flowers yet.
Apologies for the poor focus.

Re: Updated seed lists
Has Piltz closed shop? I ordered seeds from them earlier in November (just arrived) and when I went to their site to check the reference numbers, both the plant and seed sections display a notice that they're 'permanently closed'.

Re: x Mangave ‘Bloodspot’ going to flower
I have two 'Bloodspots', one from a local fair and another from a garden center. Both were planted out and flowered a few years ago. Neither had any bulbils on the flower stalk, but they produced ~5-10 offsets each. They also produced a few viable seeds (no idea if they selfed or some other nearby a...

Re: South African seeds
Ancient thread! I have ordered from them a few times over the years, and that includes both seeds and bulbs. No mesembs though, mostly SA bulbs (Massonia, Daubenya, Cyrtanthus, Gethyllis, the odd Bulbine and Brachystelma). Germination was good and most importantly, the species were as advertised. Re...

Re: First Lithops flower of 2022
Nothing on mine so far, but they may have been confused due to some very irregular watering this year (they got soaked in March and again in April). I had a geyeri in flower in May, but I'll count that one as very early rather than very late...

Weingartia time
More specifically, the Weingartia neocumingii complex. They show a nice range of flower colors too beyond the ubiquitous yellow. Even the young plants seem capable of producing 20 or more flowers at a time (unfortunately not always open simultaneously). White flowers (I have this one as 'sp. Z20' fr...
