Re: Sad Lithops...

You've been given helpful advice. I hope your Lithops will benefit!

Just a q... have you fed your Lithops at all? They are very slow-growing but do appreciate a "cactus" plant feed - low in nitrogen - if mot repotted that year.

Re: MSG Cheiridopsis etc. Study Group Meeting

How did the meeting go? Did it bring in any new or rejoined members for the MSG? I am aware that the full report will be published in the MSG Bulletin, but I thought I would ask anyway, because mesembs are often discussed on this Forum. I did attend the previous MSG study meeting (also on Cheiridops...

Re: Cactus genome sequencing project

Many thanks, David L, for your helpful post and clarification of the activities of the BCSS Research Committee. I think there may have been some confusion on this thread, regarding what is "conservation" and what is "research" (... or is that just me? :???: :???: :???: ) The MSG,...

Re: Cactus genome sequencing project

http://www.bcss.org.uk/downloads/Aug14agd.pdf which mentions the publication of a relevant article in an issue of the RHS "Plantsman" under para.5(b). Found it! https://www.rhs.org.uk/about-the-rhs/publications/magazines/the-plantsman/2014-issues/june/contents-june-2014 thanks to Paul's A...

Re: Agave article - The Plantsman March 2015 - available onl

Wow, very interesting article - though I myself don't grow agaves, I have often seen them in UK public and private gardens (and RHS Wisley glasshouse, of course) - I'm an RHS member but I never realised there was an online presence for the "Plantsman"! Note e.g. Bill Maddams' article on co...

Re: Cactus genome sequencing project

Why not just say "Please contact so and so for information on conservation issues"? Or at least, "This information is only available to members of the BCSS - please join!" with a link to the relevant webpage. (Slightly off topic I know, but I had the idea that quite a few people...

Re: Cactus genome sequencing project

The BCSS web site is sadly very out-of-date and a major update is being prepared according to the December minutes of the BoT meeting Ah, that's very good to know (tu) I look forward to it! Would it be possible for the publicly viewable list http://www.bcss.org.uk/downloads/Conservation%20Projects....

Re: Cactus genome sequencing project

Thanks for quick & helpful response Chris (tu) I also found this http://www.bcss.org.uk/downloads/Aug14agd.pdf which mentions the publication of a relevant article in an issue of the RHS "Plantsman" under para.5(b). I expect there are those on here who take the Plantsman and can enligh...

Re: MSG Banstead Show

I'm hoping to be constructive  having just found this on the Northants/MK BCSS Branch page:
http://northants.bcss.org.uk/nl253/nl253MSG.htm

Apologies if these have already been posted on this BCSS Forum or if I should not have mentioned the link

Re: Cactus genome sequencing project

I too am currently a "Registered Guest", having reluctantly let my BCSS membership lapse for personal (health) reasons - I am expecting to rehome most, but not all, of my plants as soon as possible. Meanwhile I continue to watch this Forum and to recommend the BCSS (and the MSG) to anyone ...
