Re: Is the forum dying?

My challenge with photos is probably the size and the memory on the phone. Usually I get messages that say I don't have enough space to carry out this operation.

Re: My new favourite cactus

Here's another Turbinicarpus in flower today, much bigger and sometimes put in a separate genus. Named only as T. beguinii f nova on the BCSS seedlist, I think it is sometimes called "albiflorus" because it doesn't have the normal dark pink flowers. beguinii-0503.jpg I know it's just a no...

Re: Is the forum dying?

Earlier on, I would post in this forum when I had questions. I have less questions now that I have been growing for longer and have learned a lot over the years. Otherwise, I read what others post to gather what might be of interest to me. Being in a quite different climate and time zone impacts the...

Re: Plant of the month photo plea.

Thanks very much for this, Dave. I am always short of material and having to beg people to contribute, so if there are any other pics you can send along with a few words about them I would be very grateful. I didn't know about your previous offer but will have a look through your posts when need. T...

Re: Mammillaria longimamma seed

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I had not been able to find anything to se what the seedpod would look like so was waiting for colour change. I checked and it detached, so I now have seeds and intend to sow them over this long weekend.

Mammillaria longimamma seed

Last August, three of my Mammillaria longimamma flowered at the same time, so I tried a thing with pollination. Two of them in the photo below. Longimammas Aug 2022.jpg I saw growth of what appeared to be a seedpod on only one plant, and I have been monitoring it's growth since then. This is what it...

Did you grow these from seed ?
Thanks Tina.
These are all seed-grown - mostly seed from someone in Thailand.
I'm appreciating the range of patterns and colours (no two are identical)

Astrophytum asterias

Google tells me that Astrophytum asterias flowering season is March to May, but I'm obviously in the wrong part of the world and have flowering season year round. I feel as though I have finally got the hang of growing these successfully. Sharing some flowers from the past week or so. IMG_20221106_1...
