I’ve already had an article about poaching published in the MSG Bulletin. I’ve lately expanded on it significantly and that will be published in the June issue of the German journal ‘Avonia’. I’d be happy to share info and images with anyone who would like to contact me.

With experience it's sometimes easy to recognise recently imported wild Conophytums, e.g. epidermal scarring and years of old sheaths. But it's also often difficult to impossible to be sure when they've had a year or more in cultivation to acclimatise and/or been broken up to root cuttings. With the...

You've bought a plant which has been poached from habitat. It's a CITES protected species which has been illegally taken in their many thousands over the last few years. Mostly for the Asian market but they have then been sold on world wide. I've had no experience of rooting such plants but know it ...

Such a small plant may well be dead......try to carefully remove the old dry sheath to see what's inside. We've had a few discussions on Facebook groups where growers have lost conos during this last hot summer.

It's the start of the growing season in the Northern hemisphere Peter. But the plants should be dry sheathed before watering and not all species will be ready at the same time. Most of mine in the UK already had water but others won't be ready for a couple of weeks yet as the old leaves are not full...
