Re: Baja California travel advice?
I'm with Paul on this one, Mexico is a great place but can be dangerous away from popular tourist spots. Most hire car companies won't let you take their car over the border in case it doesn't come back. Non-Mexicans in hire cars away from tourist spots stick out a mile. It's quite sweet when the l...

I would personally never EVER travel somewhere like Mexico on my own. Ever. Even for the smallest of reasons like if you twisted your ankle whilst off pis...

Would it be too dangerous to drive around on my own? would it be more sensible to fly to the south and hire...

Re: April 2018 - Mammillarias
Diane, all your four plants are awesome!! I have never managed such rings of flowers on any of my Mamms... These photos were taken on April 2nd 2014, so almost exactly 4 years ago, and demonstrate how far advanced they were compared to this year. They are only just showing buds this year and haven't...

Re: February 2018 - Early Bloomers
I admit this was a difficult subject but there have been some great entries to choose from nonetheless! I really liked Jim Mercer's Crassula ovata as well as Liz M's Veltheimia bracteata, but my first prize goes to Suculentia for an Aloe speciosa with fantastic colour and texture. Suculentia, please...

Re: February 2018 - Early Bloomers
Just 3 more days to go in this short month, but today a Stenocactus opened the cactus flowering season in my greenhouse, as usual.

Re: February 2018 - Early Bloomers
To get the month started, here is a cactus that is nicely fitting for the winter theme and is in flower in my greenhouse today: Mammillaria gracilis 'Arizona Snowcap'!
