Re: CactusWorld out today

I was surprised to find that my membership number as given on the postal insert with my address was much lower than I had anticipated, and much lower than it had been. Is this a mistake or have we restarted membership numbering?? You've previously set it in you forum profile as 35791 - is this not ...

Re: Alluaudia minimum temperature

I aim to keep my greenhouse at +1C, which means, in practice, that it can get to just below freezing. I try to bring into the house no more than one large tray of plants. My young Alluaudia procera has always come into the house until this winter when it's place was taken by something else. I notice...

Re: Request for photos

A more extreme example from the same incident, when I left all the windows shut after a frosty night that was followed by a blazingly sunny day. It was more of a cooking than a scorching. I did kill many plants but this wasn't one of them. Photos 4 May 14, 16 May 15 and 10 Mar 19. The burnt bits are...

Re: Request for photos

A pair of photos, taken 4 May 2014 and today, 9 Mar 2019. Not all scorch grows out so well as it has here but scorching's certainly not a reason to get rid of a plant. Rebutia mentosa ssp purpurea:

March 2019 - GotM - Echinocereus

http://www.society.bcss.org.uk/index.ph ... -2019.html It would be particularly nice to see some of the wilcoxia types, given the focus on E. poselgeri.

Re: February 2019 - GotM - Euphorbia

My other one is Euphorbia lomelii (=Pedilanthus macrocarpus). My plant came from a collection disposal a few years ago and had, at some point in the past, been the cristate form, although it had totally reverted to the normal form by the time I got it.

Re: Seeds Sown

I've finally managed to be successful with Austrocactus and Pterocactus seed. Elizabeth Sarnes advised me to I think their seed is just good. I had some Austrocactus and Pterocactus from them last year (and just Austrocactus the year before) and germination was pretty good, no special treatment. Pt...

Re: Enews..

Ensure that the BCSS has your email address. Your Branch Secretary should be able to check for you. When I took over as Branch Secretary I was amazed at how poor the records were. Even a couple of BCSS 'bigwigs', whose email addresses frequently appear in CactusWorld and on the website were listed w...

Re: February 2019 - GotM - Euphorbia

I've been out looking to see my Euphorbia. It turns out I only have two. The first is a cutting of a cutting of a cutting of a plant I adopted from my mother's collection not long after I got interested in C&S. It didn't have a name and is currently labelled with the name I assigned it after looking...
