I know the New Cactus Lexicon pic (by Ralf Hillmann) is like you describe - appearing as just round pebbles arranged like a clock face in a sea of angular pebbles.

Some of these are from a deceased members collection and are growing in some very strange media. I have no choice but to try and convert them to mine! Yes, though only last August and again this February. The first lot were overwintered cool with only a bit of water so I wouldn't expect them to grow much. I'll take more note of how they get on from now on.

Hi, they were both waiting for approval in the moderator queue. Normally, I'd delete one and approve the other but as you've worded them subtly differently I've kept them both and just merged the threads. :)
