Re: no blooming for 2 years

Might you have missed the flower? That's a healthy-looking plant with a bud about 24 hours away from opening. Unless you moved it suddenly to very extremely hot conditions I can't think why it would fail.

Re: Oh the anticipation....

If it's an Oroya, you're doing better than I am! My buds dried up yet again... I've never managed to flower an Oroya.

Re: no blooming for 2 years

Assuming these are photos of the plant 2 years ago, do you have any of how it looks at the moment?

Re: Can I separate these Echinopsis seedlings?

I wouldn't move them yet. I also don't think you've sown them too close. Cacti seem to do better when sown really close together.

Re: Tunilla time

Yes, they're not a section of the greenhouse that I mess about with very often. I was fed up with their habit of growing down into the gaps between round half pots so, in the absence of square pots, I thought it would be a good idea to put them in foil food/takeaway trays and then stand these in lar...

Tunilla time

My Tunilla have got their act together this year and some a flowering that haven't done before, giving me the opportunity to post a photo with 8 different ones flowering at the same time. P6100052.jpg A few of them have got their timing wrong, however. P6100053.jpg Other than colour, there's not muc...

That's rather beautiful. A good balance between the purple underneath and the silver overlay.

Re: Sulcorebutia hertusii / patriciae

The original description of patriciae calls for spines 10-25mm long and I'd say your plant can't have spines much shorter than 10mm, which, given the difference in spines in UK and Bolivian sunshine, seems OK. Interestingly, the key character used to differentiate patriciae from tarabucoensis was th...

Re: Sulcorebutia hertusii / patriciae

The few plants I have under these names are fairly hairy. Have you seen the photos that Willi Gertel has put online of patriciae and hertusii? There's quite a range of spine length evident there. (You might need to be logged into kakteenforum.com to view photos, I can't remember.)
