Re: Unusual Copiapoa

Ritter does illustrate his plant: https://www.cactuspro.com/lecture/Ritter-Friedrich/KakteenSudamerika3/page-360.en.html and says that a Backeberg illustration is it, too: https://www.cactuspro.com/lecture/Backeberg-Curt/Cactaceae6/page-285.en.html Graham Charles, in his Cactus File Handbook, says t...

Re: New fora? Forums?

They are not sections to contain all of the posts about tephros or haworthias. They were not set up on a whim to see if we forum users liked them, to be killed off if we didn't. At the Tephrocactus Study Group meeting in May, we agreed to simplify our webpage to make it a single-page advert/signpost...

Re: Painting the floor

White might be harsh on your eyes on a sunny day and black as a heat store is unlikely to have much impact in winter (will low angle rays reach the floor much?) but could elevate summer night temperatures, which you don't want. Grey seems a fair compromise and it's readily available.

Re: Disappointed

The entry in Englera 16 "Cactaceae of South America: The Ritter Collections" indicates that he encountered it in March 1955. Only a few diaries cover this time, so it's easy to find. There seems to be only one spread for Cruz del Eje, in vol 21, spread 15-15a as numbered in the pdf. The gymnos are 1...

Re: Disappointed

There've been photos of a couple of plants in the last week or so on the Klub kaktusářů Plzeň forum:
http://kkplzen.eu/index.php/forum?view= ... 3420#59709
and http://kkplzen.eu/index.php/forum?view= ... 3450#59776 it's easy to see why it's so sought after.

Re: Setiechinopsis mirabilis

I wonder if the two are related. My plants seem to do better now that I cut or twist the dead flower off a few days after it's wilted.

Re: Identification for a lobivia please

The spination at the top of the stem and the yellow flower (though I'd say not the shape or the white throat) look like Echinopsis aurea but the height, and maybe a bit of the bristliness of the spines, suggests it's a hybrid with something a bit trichocereus, spachianus, for example.
