Frailea ID

I acquired this Frailea at the Sheffield branch auction last week. It's labelled Frailea goldii, but I can't find any reference to this name. Any suggestions please?

Re: Schlumbergera truncata

I'm usually very un-enthusiastic about Christmas decorations in October.

Re: Cacti identity

I think you're right, Ralph

The stripes aren't as obvious on the left hand plant as on the right hand one, but are apparent in this photo. The spines still look different. I think it's 2 seedlings growing together, rather than a double-headed plant, given the differences.

Re: Cacti identity

I took it as a doubled-headed plant initially, but looking carefully the 2 heads are different -different spines, different ribs, different rib markings. I think the left hand plant is either an Echinopsis or a Lobivia (and the other Gymno as Diane has ID'd). Should be easy once the heads flower...

Re: B.E.F. Pots ?

The key thing about BEF pots is the plastic which goes into the mould. I think it was polypropylene, according to a thread some time ago on this topic. Possibly with UV stabiliser. If BEF moulds are used with the same plastic as standard plastic pots, then same results will follow, pots that disinte...

Re: Help with ID please

I'm no Mammillaria expert, but could 2 be Mamm. glassii? I thought glassii initially, then on looking at the spines carefully, decided that as all the centrals were straight, not hooked, it wasn't glassii. However, on checking up, glassii can have straight centrals. I would expect prolifera to have...
