Re: Lindsey Deaves

A great example to us all, from what I have read. Condolences to all her family.

I trust Heaven is a garden.

Much love,
Ed.

Re: Lithops seeds

While on this topic, someone was asking me recently about (UK) sources of Lithops seeds. I would say MSG, sometimes BCSS, and probably eBay. Can anyone recommend others? I've had good results with seeds from 'old-n-bald' on ebay. He has an excellent range, all correctly labelled. I note that some s...

Re: 'Moler' v. pumice

Thanks guys. Seems like I've caught up! I particularly want to use it for Lithops. I'm growing them in fairly large bowls which I need to move each year, into winter quarters. For one thing, I thought the 'litter' would be a lot lighter than the granite chippings I have been using for drainage as we...

'Moler' v. pumice

I note there was some discussion about this on the forum a couple of years back. Pumice is still rather expensive compared with suitable cat litter. I came across an article by a bonsai grower now using the litter described in this quote by him below:- "Tescos Low Dust Lightweight cat litter is...

Re: In your opinion, which are the 3 worst pests in succulen

Vine weevils are my most hated pests with Sempervivums. I'm surprised they are not on the list. So far they don't seem attracted to Lithops. Drenching with Provado seems effective on most plants...and vine weevils do have wide-ranging tastes. The problem with succulents in winter is one doesn't want...

Re: Hello from Hampshire

Welcome Ed,good to have another Lithops grower. I grow Lithops, Conophytums and Sempervivums up here in Orkney. I agree that retirement is good, you can spend a lot more time with your plants. Allan Orkney Thanks Allan, pity about our distance apart, but Orkney is a good choice (tu) More time with ...

Thanks for the welcome, Rod  Retirement is fun. So nice to take things easy!

What I forgot to mention in my intro is my Sempervivums.....kinda take them for granted but there are quite a few!

Happy growing, yourself,
Ed.

Hello from Hampshire

Like a few young lads of my time the first efforts with gardening were with Cacti. I went on to become a tree and shrub nurseryman and then chose a quieter life as professional gardener to a religious organisation. I am now retired after 36 years with them. Interestingly, two of the inmates had quit...
