Re: ELK 2010
Since I'm traveling with you Bill, this bar meet may be pretty much a certainty.

Re: August Photo Competition
Now a slightly tongue in cheek one. Flies on a Pediocactus knowltonii. I reminds me of one of of those mind bending MC Escher pictures. This is not a Photoshop job, photographed as it was seen with a Panasonic G1 with a Canon FD adapter and Canon 50mm F3.5 macro lens.

Re: August Photo Competition
A couple of entries first a sort of serious one. Sulcorebutia rauschii 'golden spined form' photographed with a Panasonic G1 with an adapter to use a Canon 135mm F2.8 FD lens with a Raynox DCR-250 8 diopter macro lens clipped to the front. Taken in available light, a single frame, no stacking of ima...

Difficult without a better view of the body, but your Lobivia looks like it might be close to Lobivia arachnacantha.

One more habitat shot.
A picture of a plant in my collection raised from seed from this population collected by Roger Ferryman in 1982. This has his collection number RMF57.

Re: Range of Eriosyce paucicostata
A few pictures of Eriosyce paucicostata in habitat North of Paposo and close to the sea from my trip with Mike in 2008. First the habitat. Habitat4.jpg Also at this location were Eulychnia sp. and Copiapoa cinerea var. haseltoniana. Some typical plants: Habitat1.jpg Habitat2.jpg Habitat3.jpg Habitat...

Re: Lobivia famatimensis bonniae FK96
My plant of ssp. bonniae has hitherto been non-flowering rather than free flowering, but who knows, perhaps it will now have got the habit? I have two plants of Lobivia famatimensis itself, one resembles yours and flowers freely. I also have a very handsome tight spined plant that looks gorgeous, bu...

Re: Lobivia famatimensis bonniae FK96
These plants probably grow a lot bigger in cultivation than in the wild, but the habitat pictures that I have seen do not show them sprawling. My plant seems happier since I have started giving a little more water.

Re: Eriosyce spec. paucicostata or confinis?
This plant looks more like plants I have under the name 'confinis'. It does not seem to me to resemble typical 'paucicostata', but these plants are very variable.

Re: Some Choice (Thelocephala) Eriosyces
I have odieri and maleolata in bud, but they look as though they will be a few days before they open.
