Re: My collection in Finland

Today the three small opuntias (O. fragilis 'Füssen') growing outdoors in my rockery have more than 100 buds! Last winter was their fourth winter without any protection. This winter was very cold in Finland (between -20 and -30 Celsius for several weeks), but there was a lot of snow protecting the p...

Re: My collection in Finland

I bought this fishbone cactus at a store, but there was no name attached. Can somebody tell if it is Epipyllum anguliger or some other fishbone cactus?

Previously I tried to grow E. anguliger from seed, but I did not succeed. After this stage they rottened.

In autumn and early winter, it was very wet and warm, but from January to March, it was very cold (-...

Re: My collection in Finland

Thanks, Brian . However, it's not too late for the new aerial roots that will grow in the future. I think that the purpose of the aerial roots in S. grandiflorus is to help the plant in spreading and growing in the nature. That is, these roots might help the plant attach to and climb on different su...

Re: My collection in Finland

My Selenicereus grandiflorus has grown from 10-cm-long cutting to this in three years. I just repotted it and cut off most of its (mostly dry) aerial roots. Is that okey or should I not cut the aerial roots in the future?

Botanical Garden in Berlin

I visited the Botanical Garden in Berlin last week, and here are some pictures of succulents.
