Sorry I should have said that - this is not a habitat shot. The greenery at the background is a giant Yucca actually, that is a Mexican plant. That plant grows in "Arizona Garden" of Stanford University. The plant is large enough to be one of the original plants from early 1900-s, but I do...

Flower is assimetrical, hairy bud. Spines about 5cm long.

One of the things I do to get opuntoides to germinate is I put them under the rain. It is trickier here in CA then you may think.
