Re: Precocious Agave!
All from selfing poratorum. All the hybrids are nice and green. A couple have a hint of green in them so just a waiting game to see what happens once the food that was provided by the seed runs out.

Re: Precocious Agave!
Some of mine germinated in the pods. Stalk and core of the plant has been kept in the house since last November. This particular agave was late to the party and waited until September to flower. The pods were still green. There’s another thred here https://www.agaveville.org/viewtopic.php?t=13030 On...

Agave isthmensis x filifera
I brought this one outside to hose off some of the dust and spider skins that had collected on it. This one came from Stuart many years ago.

Re: Agave talk & pictures
Agave Potatorum about to flower.
Had a dry run to see if I could lean it over and avoid climbing up ladders and also to be able to get the top end of the stalk into the glasshouse in case we get prolonged rain once flowers begin to open.

Re: Agave- ‘double barrel stigmas’
This plant also has other strange behaviour.
Sometimes the odd pup looks different to all of the rest and sometimes it will turn into a multi headed plant.
fasciated - I'll add that to my dictionary

Agave- ‘double barrel stigmas’
Noticed some funnies with a flowering agave. A couple of the flowers had what appeared to be a stigma with two pistils side by side and a figure of 8 shaped stigma. Now that the seed pods are fattening up I can see co -joined ovaries. This is a new one on me so I was wondering if anyone else has see...

Re: Agave talk & pictures
Lophantha x celsii parents. The resulting plant is the odd one out of the batch. Most of its siblings have the 'hybrid vigour'. This add to the debate on seed sowing methods. Some folk prefer to so a few seeds in a small pot and let them grow on a bit before potting individually. Others prefer one s...
