If they seem happy and are growing, I'd keep them in bags for several weeks or a few months. Beware direct sun on bags though, they can overheat rapidly.

I'm not usually an optimist- I don't know what came over me. The flip side of the argument is that if common pests are difficult to control then how are new pests that are a biosecurity risk going to be controlled? It's more of a stem succulent than a caudiciform. If you want to remove an offset to root, go for it.
