Re: What fertilizers do you use?

Putting on my ex-chemist's hat, I would say that inorganic mineral salts such as this are not going to suffer much change from being left in the sun. Thanks, Terry, I'll trust your thoughts on that. I was wondering where the blue colour came from in the first place, and whether it was just a blue d...

Re: What fertilizers do you use?

A question on Chempak. I was foolish enough to leave my plastic box out in the sun for an hour or so in bright sun after using it for watering, and the blue on the top surface and sides was bleached to white. Does this destroy the usefulness as fertiliser, does anyone know please?

Re: MSG Bulletin

In order to help formulate thoughts regarding consultation on future seed distribution, does anyone have any informed info (or informed guesswork) on how Brexit may change shipping seed overseas (and over channel!) ?

Re: Growing Pereskiopsis

If you can't produce Pereskiopsis stocks quickly enough for seedling grafting just obtain one of the hybrid Christmas Cacti and use them as in the video below:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuj5b9xTg2U Thanks for the tip, Dave. As a result of which I have started a trial this morning! Have you d...

Re: BCSS Forum Seed Pool

Just to add to the record my thanks, too, to Chris for his efforts. And Re the A. caput-medusae, I also had results with 3 of 4 seeds germinating, the first after 5 days.

Re: First Euphorbia Flower(s)

I had a packet of seeds of Euphorbia obesa from the BCSS seed pool in 2016. (Thanks Chris for your efforts, and from the original supplier (maybe jfabio?) !) This resulted in 9 seedlings I retain today, six of which are now flowering in 2" pots. Three are more advanced and appear to be female. ...

Re: BCSS Judges Course

Ian: I feel sure that you will get the backing of most members in trying to make the BCSS more relevant to present day interests and communication methods. However, I never cease to be amazed at how resistant some members are to change. Terry I have no info on which to support your view about resis...

Re: BCSS Judges Course

In response to Ian - I am a recent returner to the Society after a long (more than two decades) absence, so do not feel fully qualified to judge the Society in its current form. In some ways I have found it reassuring that people with names that were familiar to me - and respected - from the eightie...

Re: Growing Pereskiopsis

I'm wondering if there is a bit too much emphasis on air humidity here. In my experience the stocks will grow fine in "normal" humidity conditions (either greenhouse or indoors, eg as windowsill plants) as long as they are adequately and frequently watered. Indeed you don't want them to gr...
