Re: Varigated Succulents Solved

Mine is in flower now. As for the white offsets, they certainly will not survive on their own.

Re: Varigated Succulents Solved

What I would like to know is what causes variegation in flowers, such as C. "Unikum". Mine mostly produces plain yellow flowers, and only a small amount of red at best, and I would love to be able to get more red.

This issue has more pages than usual, with 84, compared to 68 in the previous one, and an average of 78 last year. No wonder it is better!

My Echinopsis Hybridising Experiments

In 2010 I decided to try hybridising my cactus, so I made a number of crosses, mostly Echinopsis, but also a few Lobivia and Chamaelobivia. The resulting seeds were sown in 2011. Re: Provado and phytotoxicity

I have also made that mistake, but not on such an industrial scale! However, phototoxicity is caused by light (UV?), not heat, so you can spray at any time of year, but you should do it in the evening. To be on the safe side it might be best to do it when the next day is expected to be cloudy, or if...

Re: Sending plants by mail

I don't think you need to post early in the week. I have had plants lost in the post for several weeks but they were perfectly ok when they finally turned up - succulents have evolved to be able to cope with long periods of enforced dormancy. One parcel was delayed because the sender put house numbe...
