I have one similar to the 2nd labeled Gymnocalycium mihanovichii, although it's much more purple than the one you have (possibly in stronger light?)
See the front plant in this thread

Re: A few flowers
The reason for the bud looking more purple than yellow can be seen with this picture of the flower from the side (it's just closing up for the day). You do wonder how a plant that small can produce a flower so large.

Phil,
Thanks for that. I have a plant labelled titanota which at the moment doesn't look too similar - but it's still young and agaves seem to be very different in their juvenile and adult phases.

Re: A few flowers
Looking at Desert Tropicals it appears that uebelmannianus flowers can be yellow or purple - guess I have the yellow one. Noto Uebelmannianus When it was in bud I thought it was going to be purple - it obviously just loves to deceive you. [attachment 4249 NotoUebel3_1.jpg] The last photo is one I go...

If you ask me it's more impressive than the mermaid they make all the fuss about over there.

Re: A few flowers
Not much to say on this one - mamms just seem to keep flowering with no effort.

A few flowers
The weather is awful, but some of the plants still want to make an effort.
A great contrast between spine and flower colour.
