Re: Root mealybug control

Thank you very much to you all for your advice (a few months on from the original post - sorry!) I've thrown away all plants with bad infestations and have treated the remainder with a root drench of Compo Bi 58. All my plants are kept in a conservatory so no harm to insects outside. From what I gat...

Root mealybug control

Hi, Unfortunately it looks like a number of my succulents have root mealybug.I've binned the infested plants and salvaged the plants which don't appear to have the mealybugs in the soil but to be on the safe side I'm going to wash the roots and repot into fresh potting mix and pots. I understand tha...

Re: SilverHill Seeds

Absolutely devastating, what a waste. Only used SilverHill a few months ago and they were brilliant.

Re: Optimum temperature to germinate echeverias

Hi Liz. Thanks very much for the advice, that's reassuring to know. The seller had included a note saying stating that echeverias don't germinate above 20 degrees and I wasn't sure if this was a strict rule for all varieties or just certain types. I hadn't realised that succulents don't respond in t...

Optimum temperature to germinate echeverias

Hi I've sown quite a number of echeveria seeds for the first time over the last few days and I'm a bit concerned that germination might be hindered by the temperature in my home being too high. I've been advised that the optimum temperature for germination is between 18 and 20 degrees, whereas the t...

Re: Winter losses or damage

No losses apart from an Aloe flower stalk which had a cluster of aphids munching on it. I've also had evidence of thrips on my crassula, though I think much of it is autumn damage. I'm currently in the process of cleaning the whole conservatory and will be treating with SB Plant Invigorator ...

Re: Can anyone identify these succulents please?

I agree about the second, Kalanchoe pumila, this should grow into an attractive clump with pretty pale mauve flowers. The third one could be Pachyphytum oviferum and the last possibly a Graptopetalum. Sorry, I'm not sure about the other two. Thanks, really helpful. Just googled Kalanchoe Pumila and...

Re: Can anyone identify these succulents please?

Thank you all! (tu) They were bought in a batch from Ebay as reduced price plants in winter as they weren't good enough quality to sell full price. A couple arrived with mealy bug and most didn't look particularly happy. They went into quarantine in a separate room to the conservatory and were treat...

Can anyone identify these succulents please?

Hi, can anyone identify the names of these please? My husband bought them for me a while back but they arrived nameless. I think the second one is a kalanchoe but I'm not sure about the others. http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c44/alicekonash/P1020158_zpsx6aenbsj.jpg http://i24.photobucket.com/albu...
