These are my seedlings of Mammillaria bertholdii, sown in April 1917. I bought a grafted plant two years ago, and discovered seed pods low down on the plant, which was in bud when I received it. I can't remember how many seeds I extracted, but I'm guessing I got a germination rate of about 50%. As s...

Tylecodon species are considered toxic - in particular, T. wallichii, but as with any other toxic plant (and there are many common garden plants that are toxic) just take care in handling them. Yes, several of my Astros have opened late flowers this week, including A. asterias, I think there is some opportunistic flowering happening due to recent sunny days (not today - it has been really dire!)
