Hi all, It is some time since the BCSS had any of its plastic labels for sale. we are hoping to remedy this. Andrew Harmsworth in Shetland has been researching the possibilities and has found a company who can produce the labels to the specification of the last ones we offered but a little thicker: ...

Re: First flower 2024

Hi Eric,
A very beautiful flower, cheers the day. However these plants do not come from NW Africa but from the Little Karoo on the border between Western abd Eastern Cape Province, South Africa as well as parts of the Great Karoo.

Hi,

We have the book here, bought it through NHBS before Christmas, BCSS is mentioned many times or rather BCCS is mentioned! I don't know who proof read this tome but they didn't do very well.

Re: Winter growers and their requirements

There are a number of mesmbs which grow in the winter: Gibbaeum, Phyllobolus, Antimima, Ruschia, Aloinopsis, Nananthus, Cheridopsis, Mitrophyllum, Meyerophytum, Monilaria to name a few, but a few which are more usually grown and available. Whilst they are chiefly winter growers I find that their gro...

Re: Aloe broomii

Hi Ralph, I always smile when Stuart puts one of these up for sale on his listing as he describes it as a small growing Aloe. I would describe it as a medium to large sized plant eventually, We have one in a 50 or 60cm full depth pot and it flowered a couple of years ago. The problem is keeping it u...

Hi Andy,

As it happens there is one 2nd hand copy, condition not bad, of issue 2005/1. As I am on the point of mailing your Handbook of Shows I will pop it in the same envelope.

Re: Cok Grootscholten RIP

Terry & Jennifer, Tony and myself had several visits with Cok and Ine, we loved rooting around his plants and finding treasures to take home. Always cheerful and welcoming another great loss to the cactus & Succulent fraternity.

Our best wishes to Ine and the family.

Re: Columnar cactus - ID

Hi,

Very nice plant and quite a height. We think it is Trichocereus pasacana. Not likely to be anything very temperature sensitive as that would probably not have survived unscathed in this country. Hope it flowers!
