Re: Sansevieria francisii

Very nice Colin! My plants of S. francisii have not flowered yet. I have six plants, all grew from a leaf I was given in 2009. Recently I decided to propagate this species and cannibalized two of the plants, removing most of the upper leaves in the rosettes. I ended up with nearly 50 leaves to root,...

Re: Colin's new home!

Yes, sad to report, but probably my new office won't have any plants. The main reason is that my windowsill is sloping - not ideal for placing plants on!! What about using a support? Or a sloping rubber mat placed on the windowsill in the opposite direction to make the surface even, maybe? &q...

Re: Adenium arabicum update

I guess it is about time I post an update of my Adenium arabicum . Below is a picture of the whole plant, the pot is one meter in diameter: SAM_1758.JPG The caudex has also increased accordingly: SAM_1762.JPG I had cut back the original branches, and the plant has branched nicely - my idea is to hav...

Re: Walking Sansevieria has decided to take a stroll

Hi Julie, They often remain attached. New growths in Sansevieria remain connected to each other, this way the plants clump and collectively build up energy to produce bigger and bigger offsets, and eventually these offsets are mature enough to flower. Of course if you sever the connection between th...

Re: Walking Sansevieria has decided to take a stroll

Hi Devrim, Yes, it offsets above the soil by means of runners (stolons), and the offset often make roots while in the air, the roots looking like stilts on which the plant balances itself. The plants look like they walking on skinny legs - hence its common name in Kenya, walking sansevieria  ...

Walking Sansevieria has decided to take a stroll

My three-year old little Sansevieria pinguicula has decided to make an offset this past month. I am quite pleased with this. Growth of the runner was quite fast, I could see the changes every day. Now a little rosette has started to grow, and it is already sending out its first root! See below: http...

Re: Journal & Bradleya

Good suggestion Dave and very good points. I really used to enjoy one of the regular sections in older journals, the "All I can find about...", and each issue it was a different plant that the author would quest to find the maximum possible amount of information about. It was a nice way to...
