Re: What's happening to my Eriosyce seedlings

Something went wrong with their culture, probably last summer. It might have been a mite attack or scorch, something that damaged the growing point. Whatever it was has fixed itself and the plants have formed new growing points from one of the areoles near to the apex, hence the grafted look. If the...

The first description reports a "radice napiformi" and "mit Rübenwurzel". This matches with the photo of the plant at the top of the page. https://www.cactuspro.com/lecture/Kakte ... 12.en.html

Re: Hello from North Somerset.

Opuntia stricta has a natural distribution centred around the Caribbean. Since it doesn't experience seasonal temperature swings I wouldn't expect the seeds to require a cold stratification. When you look at some of the countries in which it has become a serious weed, again, they tend to be countrie...

Re: CactusWorld out today

Is this a mistake or have we restarted membership numbering?? You've previously set it in you forum profile as 35791 - is this not ...

Re: Alluaudia minimum temperature

I aim to keep my greenhouse at +1C, which means, in practice, that it can get to just below freezing. I try to bring into the house no more than one large tray of plants. My young Alluaudia procera has always come into the house until this winter when it's place was taken by something else. I notice...
